12 Bravehearts lost to the defending champion USA in the quarterfinals

On the eighth day of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games in men’s wheelchair basketball, Turkey lost 52-45 to the last Paralympic champion USA in the quarterfinals.

In the match played at the Ariake Arena, “12 Brave Hearts” faced the USA, which they lost in the semi-finals of the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

Starting the game very well, Turkey went ahead 18-11 in the first quarter where it defended well. The national team went 26-25 in the locker room.

In the match, which was quite contentious, USA finished the third quarter ahead 36-31. At the end of the match, the USA did not make mistakes in tactical fouls against the national team, which reduced the difference to 2 (43-41) and left the field with a 52-45 victory.

While the USA advances to the semi-finals, Turkey will fight for the 5th place.

The top scorer of the match was Özgür Gürbulak, the national athlete who scored 21 points. Brian Bell, who scored 18 points in the USA, played a leading role in the victory. (AA)
