The report was released the same day Green Bay executives spoke to shareholders at Lambeau Field ahead of a training camp; Rogers, 37, stayed away from the team, including missing the compulsory mini-camp

Defender Aaron Rogers will eventually play for the Green Bay Packers this season, the NFL Network reported on Monday.

Rogers, 37, has stayed away from the team, including missing the mandatory mini-camp, which has sparked months of speculation about where he’ll play in the 2021 season, if at all.

Rogers’ most recent public comment came earlier this month when he said he was taking time out for his mental health and spiritual self this offseason.

Packers President Mark Murphy and General Manager Brian Gutekunst answered questions from shareholders on Monday about the current NFL MVP.

Gutekunst, the source of Rogers’ ire after the general manager selected Jordan Love in 2020 without speaking to Rogers, said he was “hoping” for a positive outcome.

“We want him back, we are committed to him for 2021 and beyond,” Murphy told shareholders, adding that the standoff was “a tough situation, but let’s not forget all the great things he has done.”

Packers veterans report on Tuesday, with the first training scheduled for Wednesday.
