The Basketball African League (BAL), established by the partnership of the American Basketball League (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), will begin on Sunday, May 16.

According to the statement made by FIBA, the first season of the league, which will include 12 clubs from Africa, will be hosted by the capital of Rwanda, Kigali.

GSP (Algeria), Petro de Luanda (Angola), FAP (Cameroon), Zamalek (Egypt), GNBC (Madagascar), AS Police (Mali), AS Sale (Morocco), Ferroviario de Maputo (Mozambique), Rivers Hoopers ( Nigeria), Patriots (Rwanda), AS Douanes (Senegal) and US Monastir (Tunisia) will fight.

BAL, the first league in which the NBA is included outside of North America, aims to support the development of basketball in Africa, including training and infrastructure investments for players, coaches and referees.

The league, which was first planned to be launched last year, was delayed due to the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) outbreak.
