The Support and Education Foundation for Basketball (BIDEV), which gathers people who love basketball as managers, trainers, players and referees, as well as those who give their hearts to this sport, accelerated its efforts to increase solidarity.
After the meeting held in Eskişehir, BIDEV Chairman of the Board Hasan Arat, chairman of the board of trustees Aydın Örs and members Zeynep Selgur and Murat Yosmaoğlu, made a statement to the AA correspondent and said that solidarity will increase with the coming together of the community.
Hasan Arat stated that they made very important decisions at the meetings in Eskişehir, “There was a problem during the pandemic period. We lost many of our friends in the last 2 years, apart from the pandemic and the pandemic. This situation prompted our community to think again about solidarity. We sat down with Aydın Örs and made plans. We did some mental gymnastics for a while.” said.
Stating that they created the foundation’s structure well with the combination of young and old, and that they gave the best example of this with the presence of active athletes such as Sinan Güler, Doğuş Balbay and Mehmet Yağmur, Arat emphasized the importance of the work they will do in Anatolia.
Emphasizing that Anatolia is very important for the members, Arat said, “Most of our generation came from Anatolia. I came from Adana. We need to go south, we need to go north. We need to go to Central Anatolia. We shouldn’t just look for very good basketball players, We also need to protect the good people who play basketball.” used the phrases.
Emphasizing the importance of Turkish players working in the NBA to meet people in Anatolia as role models, Hasan Arat continued his words as follows:
“Players who come on summer vacation need to go to Anatolia, they need to meet the children there. They came out of this country, they came to this point from this country and they need to give it back. They need to give it back with effort so that those children can have the same dream. We need to make them dream in Turkey. “Our players left with a dream, they are the ones who will make the next generation dream. Sinan Güler is the perfect example of this. He takes part in many social institutions and also takes part in social activities.”
Reminding that Doğuş Balbay and Mehmet Yağmur also carried out very sensitive works, Arat said, “Our Ergin Ataman, Orhun Ene, Ufuk Sarıca teachers are also milestones. Aydın Örs, who raised them. Pointing out that they put forth the source for the projects they developed as a foundation, Arat said:
“The founding members put the source. I think that we have brought the money to a good point for about a year now with the aid received. It is a matter of trust. It is a reputable and secure institution. We conduct business very transparently. We explain the accounts in every meeting. We are doing the Turkish Educational Volunteers Foundation project. “We are carrying out a basketball volunteers project in 8 city parks. This has a certain cost. Each of our board of trustees bought a city and covered the cost of it. We do not enter that project until it is financed.”
Aydın Örs: “Everyone leaves here with hope”
Aydın Örs, the chairman of the board of trustees of the foundation, also mentioned the importance of the meeting they held in Eskişehir, “There was a high quality group of business people and academics, not only playing basketball, coaching and refereeing, but also looking at basketball from the outside with sympathy and love. As the board of trustees, various working groups were different and worked on original projects. The board of directors will work to bring them to life.” he said.
Emphasizing the importance of BİDEV in solidarity, Örs said, “The most important function of BİDEV will be social solidarity. To be with people who have worked hard in basketball, to help their families, to take care of the education of basketball players, to guide them, to support them and to be a person committed to ethical values. Noting that their independence and impartiality are very important, Örs said, “We need to maintain this. We should be at an equal distance and impartial to everyone without any discrimination. Taking our own decisions will be one of our most important functions.” used the phrases.
Explaining that it is important that the names who actively pursue basketball life are also included in the foundation, Örs said, “We think it would be beneficial for young people and women to take part more.” he said.
Zeynep Selgur: “Our aim is to be completely transparent and reliable”
Sportive Senior Manager Zeynep Selgur pointed out that a clearer situation emerged with the meetings they held and said:
“The most important part of our work will be education and social solidarity. It is a supra-club formation within the basketball community. Our aim is to be completely transparent and reliable and to set an example.”
Selgur, who is also a board member of BIDEV, stated that they attach great importance to education and said, “We want to provide multi-faceted support to young people who play basketball or children who have just started basketball, regardless of their technical education. They eat right, be together with role models, communicate. Their language, maybe the opportunity to be with pedagogues, and to be together with the best actors. Creating social facilities and infrastructure for them in various parts of Turkey and in Istanbul, these will be our first priority.” he said.
Drawing attention to the majority of women in BIDEV, Selgur said, “If we look at the rate of senior female managers in Turkey, this rate is 9 percent, and this rate is 34 percent in BIDEV. It is one of our most important decisions to pave the way for young girls who are just starting out in basketball and to support them. will be one.” used the phrases.
Murat Yosmaoğlu: “The only thing we lacked was being together”
Murat Yosmaoğlu, the former manager of Fenerbahçe Women’s Basketball Team, who contributed to the formation of BİDEV with his ideas, also mentioned the importance of coming together.
Emphasizing that the basketball family is a strong institution, Yosmaoğlu said, “We have achieved many successes with national teams and club teams. Most of the basketball players have been successful in their business and social life. Our only shortcoming was to be together. We achieved this with BİDEV.” made its assessment.
