Ivan Villar (Aldán, 1997) will be a celestial player until 2024. The Vigo club has just announced the extension of the goalkeeper’s contract; one more year, since he had already signed his commitment with the entity until 2023. Now, the youth squad has extended his relationship with Celta until June 30, 2024, so, if the agreement is fulfilled, he will be under the sticks in the campaign in which the club will reach its centenary -Its 100 years of history will be fulfilled in August 2023-.

Iván Villar was the celestial goalkeeper who accumulated more games last season – he played 21 league games, leaving a clean sheet on 5 occasions-. His arrival at Celta dates back to 2008, and after five years in the lower categories, he made his debut with the Vigo club affiliate when he was just 16 years old. His debut with the first team came in 2017, in Medizorrotza against Deportivo Alavés.

Complicated seasons followed for the goalkeeper due to his low participation. In the 17/18 season he was not counting for Juan Carlos Unzué, and he decided to take advantage of the winter market to go on loan to Levante, where he did not make his debut either. Upon his return, he bet on the 18/19 season to take a step back and return to the Celta subsidiary, accumulating many minutes in Second Division B and also returning to the Spanish Under-21 Team.

He then returned to the first team as third goalkeeper, until last July 2020. With Sergio Álvarez and Rubén Blanco injured, he became the only available goalkeeper. Last season, Sergio Álvarez did not recover, and Rubén Blanco accumulated various absences due to injury that led Iván Villar to consolidate in recent months as the starting goalkeeper of Coudet.
