Three NFL players are immediately disqualified by the league; all three players have accepted the penalty and will not appeal; “The health and safety of players and staff is our top priority,” the NFL and NFLPA said in a joint statement.

Antonio Brown and two other NFL players were immediately suspended by the league for three games for violating Covid-19 protocols.

The NFL Players’ Association, which developed the protocols with the league, represented three players during a review of recent allegations that players misrepresented their vaccination status.

All three players accepted discipline and waived their right to appeal. The suspension is effective immediately.

Brown, Edwards, the full-back, and Franklin, the defender who last played for the Bucs in 2019, have been found to be in violation of the protocol. Brown has already missed the last five games for the Buccaneers, recovering from an ankle injury.

“The health and safety of players and staff is our top priority,” the NFL and NFLPA said in a joint statement. “The protocols have been developed in conjunction with our experts to ensure maximum safety of training and playing football during the ongoing pandemic.

“The NFL-NFLPA are jointly reinforcing their commitment and further emphasizing the importance of strict adherence to protocols to protect the well-being of all those associated with the NFL.”
