Rick Carlisle, head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, resigned.

According to the statement on the NBA’s website, one day after parting ways with Donnie Nelson, the general manager of the Mavericks for 24 years, Carlisle decided to leave the club, where he had been head coach for 13 years.

Carlisle, 61, coached the Indiana Pacers (2003-2007) and Detroit Pistons (2001-2003) before taking over the Mavericks in 2008.

Carlisle, who led the Mavericks squad led by Dirk Nowitzki to the only NBA championship in the club’s history in 2011, was named head coach of the year in 2002.
