ANDcatcher Julian Edelman, winner of three Super Bowls with the Patriots, announced his retirement at the age of 34. The player was cut by the team on Tuesday, after he failed the medical exams, and right after he posted a video announcing his goodbye.
“Due to an injury last year, I officially announce my retirement from football. It was a difficult decision, but the right one for me and my family. I have the honor and pride to retire as a Patriot,” said the player in a shared video. on his social networks, after which he ‘disappeared’ from Gillette Stadium.
New England chose Edelman in 2009, who came after being a quarterback at Kent State University. He assumed the role of inside receiver in 2012, accumulating three seasons of more than 1,000 yards.
In 12 seasons with the Patriots, Edelman never made the Pro Bowl, but left his best performances for the postseason. Only Jerry Rice has more yards and receptions in postseason history than ‘The Squirrel’, who in addition to being the MVP of New England’s last championship, he has one of the unforgettable receptions in Super Bowl history against the Falcons.
