Fenerbahçe Beko became the champion in the men’s category of the Garanti BBVA Basketball Youth League (BGL), beating TOFAŞ 81-80 at the end of the overtime.

Fenerbahce Beko and TOFAŞ faced each other in the final match played at Sinan Erdem Sports Hall. TOFAŞ finished the first half ahead 38-33 against its opponent. The normal time of the match, which was contentious, ended 70-70. Fenerbahce Beko declared the championship by defeating her opponent 81-80 with a basket she found in the last second of the overtime section.

The managers of the Turkish Basketball Federation also watched the match. The championship trophy was presented to the yellow-dark blue team by Hüseyin Beşok, Member of the Board of the Turkish Basketball Federation, and Burhanettin Hacıcaferoğlu, Istanbul Provincial Director of Youth and Sports.

Garanti BBVA Sponsorship Manager Zeynep Çömez and Garanti BBVA Sponsorship Manager Ali Baras presented the plate to TOFAŞ, which ranked second in the organization.

While a total of 10 fan events were held in the league’s 2020-2021 season, 20 teams and 340 basketball players competed in the men’s category.

In the men’s category, Tan Yıldızoğlu (Tarsus American College), Yiğit Onan (Fenerbahçe Beko), Berke Büyüktuncel (TOFAŞ), Koray Attractive (Empera Halı Gaziantep Basketball) and Ahmet Safa Yılmaz (Bahçeşehir College) took place in the top five.

Frutti Extra Bursaspor player Ali Efe Işık became the top scorer of the regular season with an average of 25.1 points. Türk Telekom’s Mevlüt Melih Doğan was at the top of this category with an average of 14.6 rebounds, while Mithat Can Özalp was the assist leader from Frutti Extra Bursaspor with 7.5.
