Galatasaray Nef signs 1-year contract with Raymar Morgan

Continuing its transfer efforts, Galatasaray Nef added Raymar Morgan, who played for ASVEL, one of the EuroLeague teams, to its staff. In the statement made by the Yellow-Red Club, it was stated that a 1-year contract was signed with the basketball player, who previously wore Tofaş and Pınar Karşıyaka jerseys.

Galatasaray Nef strengthened its foreign player roster by signing a one-year contract with American big forward Raymar Morgan, who we knew before with Tofaş and Pınar Karşıyaka jerseys in the Basketball Super League. Raymar Morgan, who spent the last season in the Asvel team of France, will fight with our yellow and red jersey in the 2022-23 season. We welcome our player to the Galatasaray Family and wish him great success.

Who is Raymar Morgan?

He was born on August 8, 1988 in Ohio, USA. He was educated at Michigan State University in 2006 and had the chance to play in the NCAA with the school team, and was named one of the top 10 freshmen by league coaches in his freshman year. In his second year at the university, he managed to be among the second top 10 names.

In 2010, the year he graduated, he played for the Washington Wizards in the NBA Summer League. Unable to find a place in the NBA Drafts, he signed with Israeli team Maccabi Rishon at the beginning of the 2010-11 season. The next season, Raymar Morgan, who passed through our country, played with Pınar Karşıyaka with an average of 10 points in two games and again turned his route to Israel to Ironi Ashkelon.

In 2014-15, he transferred to BG Göttingen, one of the Bundesliga teams, and to Panathinaikos, where he will play 7 matches at the end of the season. Raymar Morgan, who transferred to the Bundesliga with Ratiopharm Ulm, where he would play for 2 years at the beginning of the next season, turned his route to Turkey again in the 2017-18 season and signed with Tofaş.

He averaged 16.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists in 36 Super League games with Tofaş, and 15.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 10 Eurocup games. After this remarkable performance, he played for UNICS Kazan, one of the Russian League teams, for 2 seasons between 2018-2020. In his first season, the player played in 40 games, including 25 VTB League and 15 EuroCup games, and took part in 28 games in his second season at UNICS.

In the 2020-21 season, which we can call the best season of his career, he played in the finals of the Basketball Champions League with Raymar Morgan Pınar Karşıyaka, whose path came to our country for the third time, and played in a total of 49 games, including 34 ING Basketball Super League and 15 BCL. Playing with statistics of 15.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals in BSL, the basketball player averaged 17.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.0 steals in BCL.

Due to the injury he suffered at the beginning of last season, he was able to take part in one match with ASVEL, one of the Euroleague teams.
