Sabally, one of the 7 children of a Gambian father and a German mother, was born on April 25, 1998 in New York, USA. Moving to Gambia with his family at the age of two and growing up in this country, Satou Sabally set out to Berlin, the capital city of Germany, in order to get a better education when he started school.
Sabally started this sport when her talents were noticed by her female basketball coach at the age of 9 at a playground. Standing out as the only girl player in the youth team where she first appeared, Satou Sabally dreamed of playing in the American Women’s Basketball League (WNBA).
