NBA nominees for ‘best of the year’ announced

The nominees for the awards for the best of the 2020-2021 regular season in the NBA have been announced.

According to the NBA statement, three candidates were determined in six categories for the best, with the votes of sports writers and broadcasters from different countries.

Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid and Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic were nominated for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

Candidates in other categories are as follows:

Rookie of the Year: LaMelo Ball (Charlotte Hornets), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Tyrese Haliburton (Sacramento Kings)

Defensive Player of the Year: Rudy Gobert (Utah Jazz), Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors), Ben Simmons (Philadelphia 76ers)

Sixth Man of the Year: Jordan Clarkson (Utah Jazz), Joe Ingles (Utah Jazz), Derrick Rose (New York Knicks)

Best Developing Actor: Jerami Grant (Detroit Pistons), Michael Porter Jr. (Denver Nuggets), Julius Randle (New York Knicks)

Head Coach of the Year: Quin Snyder (Utah Jazz), Tom Thibodeau (New York Knicks), Monty Williams (Phoenix Suns)
