New Orleans Saints star receiver Michael Thomas intends to skip the start of the 2021 season due to an ankle problem that thwarted his 2020 campaign.

According to the report, the recommended rehabilitation period after June surgery to repair the ligaments on the left ankle is four months.
After breaking an NFL record in one season with 149 hits for a league-leading 1,725 yards in 2019, Thomas was injured in the first leg of 2020 and ended up catching just 40 assists for 438 yards and zero touchdowns in seven games.
He played in two postseason games but missed a four-target loss in a Division 30-20 playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was the first game of his five-year career without a catch.
Three picks in the Pro Bowl and two picks in the All-Pro, Thomas has 510 receptions for 5,950 yards and 32 points in 70 games since the Saints picked him in the second round in 2016.

Thomas, 28, has renewed his five-year contract for $ 96.3 million in 2019 and is due to receive a base salary of $ 12.6 million, with a maximum increase of $ 18.8 million in 2021.
His absence would be a serious blow to the crime, as the Saints pass from the Drew Brees era. Jamees Winston, Tysom Hill and rookie Ian Buck are quarterbacks on the list heading to training camp next week.
