The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and Bitci announced a worldwide partnership for the 2021-2023 period. Bitci will serve as a new Global Partner, offering innovative products to the basketball community around the world.
FIBA has described blockchain technology as a new and unique way for fans to interact with sports. This technology is also in perfect harmony with one of FIBA’s 2019-2023 strategic priorities, which is to expand the FIBA family by expanding partners and embracing new ideas.
This worldwide partnership enables Bitci to compete in all FIBA tournaments, including the FIBA Continental Cups for both men and women, the FIBA Junior World Cups, the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 and the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2023, the summit event of FIBA. will provide significant commercial rights. These will include offering exclusive rights to events, world-class brand visibility on the pitch, and exclusive sponsorship rights for selected FIBA qualifying competitions.
The partnership will also allow Bitci to develop and launch an exclusive FIBA fan token for FIBA’s worldwide fan community. This will give basketball fans a say, giving them the right to vote in various tournaments, participate in surveys, access promotional licensed products, and exclusive access to tickets and behind-the-scenes events.
In addition to FIBA fan tokens, both parties will explore the opportunity to develop certain Non-Exchangeable Tokens (NFTs), a digital collection for fans that will consist of memorable moments from the FIBA archive. In this way, unique opportunities will be given to the fans to collect special moments safely and privately and to be a part of basketball history.
FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said: “We are excited to enter this new partnership with Bitci. FIBA is committed to expanding the basketball family and offering innovative opportunities to its members and fans. We are confident that Bitci will offer premium products with the joint development of blockchain, a dedicated FIBA fan token and NFTs. “Technology is a key driver in basketball, and working with Bitci will further improve our footprint and direct interaction with fans.”
Bitci CEO Altan Tan said, “Bitci is honored to start this groundbreaking partnership with FIBA. We are expanding our partnerships globally this year, but the partnership with International Basketball Federation FIBA is groundbreaking for us. It proves Bitci’s commitment to the world of sports by providing secure services in the blockchain industry. We will work diligently to create a unique FIBA fan icon that will have strong and sustainable value for the fans. The future will prove that FIBA has chosen the right partner in the blockchain industry.”
