ANDhe Villarreal made official this Tuesday morning the signing of Aissa Mandi, second of the yellow team this season after closing last week the incorporation of Argentine Juan Foyth.

The arrival of the Algerian international was an open secret since the footballer, who ended his contract with Betis this season, made a commitment to the yellow team months ago after being free to negotiate his future since last January. Mandi (Chalons-en-Champagne, France, 10/22/1991) is well aware of the Spanish league he entered through Betis in the 2016/17 season from Stade de Reims.

In the Sevillian team he has played five seasons in which he has played a total of 173 official games, 170 of them as a starter. The great level shown in the one that has just finished under the hands of Manuel Pellegrini, has been fundamental for the yellows to decide on a signing that they already liked for many seasons.

His arrival will serve to further reinforce a defense that this season has performed perfectly with the pair formed by Albiol and Pau Torres. The incorporation of the Algerian international, together with the definitive signing of Foyth, might not be the last in the defensive plot.

The La Plana club will have to make a decision about Jorge Cuenca, an under-21 international who returns from his loan to Almeria. Who seems to have his days numbered in the Castellón team is the Argentine defender, Funes Mori. The club is already working on finding a way out for him.
