And what did Abel Tesfaye imagine to dazzle the spectators at Raymond James Stadium after a year marked by the pandemic? Well, it had nothing to do with the explosiveness of Jennifer López and Shakira a year ago. His music prevailed although his halftime show was accompanied by lights.
The Weeknd came out on stage, where he was supported by a choir-orchestra located behind him, and pulled his repertoire, although he only brought viewers out of lethargy with his famous ‘Blinding Lights’. The Canadian was a long way from the excitement of U2 after 9/11, from electrifying Shakira and JLo, from an energetic Bruce Springsteen or from Prince’s connection with the audience.
