The partial replacement of the grass with a new one began last night and the process will last 17 days. The goal is for the green to be in perfect condition for the grand final of the Copa América to be held on July 11.
The times are very tight and the slightest setback can compromise that the final is played in the desired conditions. Maracana has not hosted any of the group stage matches, nor, logically, in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
