The NFL fined the Washington football team $ 10 million after analyzing the organization’s corporate culture.
Based on the results of the survey, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell concluded that: “For many years, the working environment on the Washington football team, both in general and especially for women, has been highly unprofessional.
“Bullying and intimidation was common, and many described the culture as a culture of fear, and numerous female employees reported being sexually harassed and generally disrespectful to their work.”
Owners and senior management were found to “pay little or no attention” to these issues.
The report also says that Washington-based business owner Dan Snyder admitted to being responsible for culture and organizational failure.
After reviewing Wilkinson’s findings and all the information, the Commissioner decided that “In addition to paying all fees and costs associated with the Wilkinson investigation, the club will pay $ 10 million to be used to support character education, anti-bullying, healthy relationships and related topics. …
“They will also fund programs more broadly aimed at improving working conditions, especially for women and other under-represented groups, as well as league-wide training and development programs for which recipients will be identified with the help of respected third-party consultants.”
IN statement on the Washington websiteSnyder said: “It is now clear that the culture was not what it should be, but I did not realize the scale of the problems or my role in allowing this culture to develop and continue.
“I know that as an owner, I am fully responsible for the workplace.”
