“Koa’s first game in the NFL. My last home NFL game. My heart is only filled with love and gratitude. It was an absolute honor and pleasure.” – JJ Watt of the Arizona Cardinals, December 27, 2022

Arizona Cardinals quarterback JJ Watt announced his decision to retire at the end of the current NFL season.

“Koa’s first game in the NFL. My last home game in the NFL,” Watt said. “My heart is only filled with love and gratitude. It was an absolute honor and pleasure.”

Watt, a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, is expected to enter the Hall of Fame on the first round.

He was drafted by the Texans in the first round of the 2011 Draft, was a five-time All-Pro first-team player, and led the league in sacks twice.

In 2017, he received the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, an award given in recognition of a player’s community service, after leading a fundraising campaign that raised over $40 million to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
