The committee was also informed about the preparations for the second window of the FIBA ​​Men’s Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers, which will be played from February 24.

Women’s Competition System

After reviewing the current women’s competition system, and in order to allow developing national federations to take part in a sufficient number of tournaments, the Executive Committee proposed the Competition Commission’s proposal to introduce a new tournament to serve as a qualifying round for the next World Cup or the next Olympic Games. he accepted. The 16 best four teams from each region that did not qualify for the FIBA ​​Women’s World Cup or the Olympic Games will participate in this biennial tournament from August 2024. The winner of this tournament will directly qualify for the next qualifying tournament for the World Cup or Olympic Games.

FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualification

On the recommendation of the FIBA ​​Competitions Commission, and to extend the time between the last match of the fourth window of the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers and the start day of the FIBA ​​European Basketball Championship (EuroBasket) 2022, the matches of the fourth window of the FIBA ​​World Cup European Qualifiers will be played once. day will be advanced. Matches will be played on 24 and 25 August (first match day), followed by 27 and 28 August (second match day). This change will allow teams to have at least three days before the start of FIBA ​​EuroBasket 2022 on September 1.
