Copper Kapp sprained his ankle during the Los Angeles Rams’ loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday; further injuries to Alaric Jackson (blood clots) and Chandler Brewer (knee) mean Sean McVeigh will have to make more changes to the offensive line.
Cooper Kupp will need surgery on a sprained ankle, meaning the LA Rams wide receiver will be out for a month while he’s on injury reserve.
He will need an operation that is expected to sideline the Rams’ top forward for several weeks.
Kupp won the Triple Crown last season and was in good form before the injury. He ranks second in the NFL with 75 receptions, and his 812 receiving yards and six touchdowns rank fifth in the league.
Coach Sean McVeigh also confirmed on Tuesday that starting left tackle Alaric Jackson will miss the rest of the season due to blood clots, and starting right guard Chandler Brewer will be out four to six weeks after knee surgery.
His absence, along with injuries to two other offensive players, would be another blow to the Rams’ weak offense, which ranks 31st in the NFL in yards per game (282.7), 28th in scoring (16.4 ) and last in yards (16.4). 68.1).
Jackson has been lauded since replacing an injured Joseph Noteboom in left tack, but the Iowa product needs blood clot medication to keep him out of the rest of the season, McVeigh said.
Brewer defected to the Cardinals and performed well, but continued to play after he was injured.
The Rams (3-6) will have their 10th starting combination in 10 offensive line games when they visit New Orleans on Sunday.
