In addition to the decision taken by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) on March 1, 2022 and approved by the Central Executive Board on March 25, 2022, not to allow Russian teams and officials to participate in FIBA ​​basketball and 3×3 basketball competitions, the FIBA ​​Executive Committee will be held today, in the coming months. FIBA approved resolutions regarding the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF) and Belarusian Basketball Federation (BBF) for basketball competitions.

The FIBA ​​Executive Committee took the following decisions:

• FIBA ​​Official Basketball Competitions will not be held in Russia or Belarus until further notice.

• Teams affiliated with RBF and BBF will be deemed to have withdrawn from the following FIBA ​​national team competitions:

FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifying

FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers Russia from Group B and Belarus from Group H were removed from their groups without being replaced by another team. All results of both teams were cancelled and as a result, the remaining teams of the group advanced to the second qualifying round with 4 matches played so far. In order to classify the teams equally in these two groups (H and G; A and B), the first round matches played against the last placed teams of groups A and G will not be taken into account. The newly formed L and I groups will be formed according to these rankings.

FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022

While Russia was excluded from the FIBA ​​U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022, which will be held in Hungary between 9-17 July, Serbia was replaced.

FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022

Russia has been excluded from the 2022 FIBA ​​Women’s Basketball World Cup, which will be played in Australia from September 22 to October 1. Puerto Rico was their replacement team, considering the FIBA ​​Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 Qualifying Tournament in Washington DC last March.

• RBF and BBF teams will be deemed excluded from the following FIBA ​​3×3 national team competitions:

Russia was excluded from the FIBA ​​3×3 World Cup. They will be replaced by the next ranked teams, Israel for the women and Slovenia for the men.

FIBA 3×3 U23 Nations League 2022

Russia was excluded from the FIBA ​​3×3 U23 Nations League. Teams will not be added to their place.

FIBA 3×3 European Cup (Qualification) 2022

Belarus was excluded from the 2022 FIBA ​​3×3 European Cup Qualifiers. Teams will not be added to their place.

Russia has been excluded from the FIBA ​​3×3 European Cup 2022. The teams that will replace them will be eligible to participate through the FIBA ​​3×3 European Cup Qualification 2022.

FIBA 3×3 U17 European Cup Qualification 2022

Belarus was excluded from the 2022 FIBA ​​3×3 U17 European Cup Qualifiers. Teams will not be added to their place.

FIBA 3×3 U18 World Cup 2022

Belarus has been excluded from the FIBA ​​3×3 U18 World Cup 2022. The next placed teams in their place, Belgium for the women and Lithuania for the men, will be invited to participate.

• Teams representing Russian or Belarusian clubs or cities, as well as Russian and Belarusian players, will not be allowed to register and qualifying will not be played in Russia or Belarus for the following FIBA ​​3×3 events:

FIBA 3×3 Challengers

FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series

FIBA’s European Regional Board and Basketball Champions League Board are invited to take the relevant decisions for the respective national team and club competitions to be announced in the coming days. FIBA will continue to monitor the situation closely and take further decisions as needed.
