San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch says he can’t imagine him ever trading wide receiver All-Pro for Deebo Samuel and remains confident the two sides can secure a long-term contract.
Lynch, speaking at a press conference before the draft, said that the team would always listen to suggestions, but stressed that he intended to keep Samuel in the 49ers.
“I just can’t imagine ever breaking up with him,” Lynch said. “He was such a great player for us. He means so much to this franchise. He has nothing but love for this guy.”
Samuel is entering the final year of a rookie contract he signed after being drafted in the second round in 2019 and is looking to take advantage of a booming market for recipient contracts.
