India was limited to just 122 runs after Amy Jones put them at bat. England chased the goal, with teenager Alice Capsey watching her team at home win the series 2-1, ahead of the ODIs later this month.

England beat India by seven wickets in the last T20 match, to win the series 2-1.

Alice Capsey and Bryony Smith guided England home, after starters Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt helped England get off to a strong start.

Sophie Eccleston had the best figures on the ball finishing with figures of 3-25, but England bowlers took regular wickets to restrict India to 122.

In response, England chased the goal, with Capsey finishing innings with consecutive limits.

Freya Wong, who was called to the side after missing the first two matches, brought down opener Shafali Verma in the second over, while Smriti Mandhana and Sabbhineni Meghana lost their wicket for little money on the power play.

After six, India was 20-3 and at one point it looked like they would struggle to get to 80.

But Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh rebuilt for India, and a late flurry from Pooja Vastrakar meant India had a defensible target.

Wicketkeeper Ghosh was the batsmen’s choice, finishing with figures of 33 from 22 balls.

In response, starters Dunkley and Wyatt got England off to a good start, and by the time they caught Wyatt, England were 71–1.

On the back of her half-century in the opener, Dunkley came up short after being thwarted at 49 by seven balls.

She was eventually shot down by Vastrakar and Captain Amy Jones was shot down by Radha to give India a ray of hope.

With India pressing Bryony Smith and Alice Capsey in the final five overs, Dayalan Hemalatha dropped Capsey in 16 to put England within 20 of victory.

The chase was probably more nerve-wracking than England and Jones would have expected, but Capsey showed why she is so highly regarded.

The teenager played excellently on 38 of 44, playing her shots consistently despite India putting pressure on the scoreboard against England.

He finished consecutive limited innings at 19.

Smith supported Capsey well, going 13-for-14 from the ball.

Sophie Ecclestone was named player of the match after taking three wickets while helping England restrict India to 122.

The world number one female T20 bowler said after the match that she has enjoyed the added leadership responsibilities in this series.

“I was really glad to have some land today,” said Ecclestone, who has served as vice captain with Amy Jones.

“I really enjoyed being the vice-captain. It’s nice to have a little bit of leadership and responsibility. Obviously, Amy has been a great captain to play.”

Sophia Dunkley scored half a century in the early innings and believes England will be among the favorites for the T20 World Cup next year.

“It’s been great,” Dunkley said. “I am very proud because we are missing three of our best players and to come and beat a really strong India team, we are very happy at the moment.”

“I think we’re going to have a good chance of getting that T20 World Cup next year.”
