The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) did not remain unresponsive to the events in Ukraine. After the Eureoleague, FIBA ​​also announced its sanctions against Russia. According to the decisions taken, it has been announced that Russian teams and officials will not be allowed to participate in FIBA ​​Basketball and 3×3 Basketball competitions until further notice.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) did not remain unresponsive to the events in Ukraine. After the Eureoleague, FIBA ​​also announced its sanctions against Russia.

The explanations on the official website of FIBA ​​are as follows:

“FIBA is very concerned about the recent events in Ukraine and expresses its deepest sympathies to those affected.

In line with the decision and reasons of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee, FIBA ​​announces today that Russian teams and officials will not be allowed to participate in FIBA ​​Basketball and 3×3 Basketball competitions until further notice.

Other decisions taken by FIBA’s European Region bodies will be announced by the FIBA ​​Central Board at its meeting on 25 March and in the coming days.

FIBA condemns the violence and hopes that peace will prevail immediately.”

EuroLeague sanctions

Sanctions against Russian teams from EuroLeague were announced the other day. In the announcement, it was stated that the participation of the Russian teams competing in the EuroLeague and EuroCup was suspended.
