Youth and Sports Minister Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu came to the construction site of the Basketball Development Center, which was built instead of Abdi İpekçi Sports Hall, and made inspections. Minister Kasapoğlu was accompanied by Turkish Basketball Federation President Hidayet Türkoğlu during the examinations. The two names made statements after posing for the press with the workers at the construction site. TBF President Hidayet Türkoğlu, who took the floor first, stated that Turkey has made great progress in terms of establishment and said, “We cannot thank our President and minister enough for bringing a facility that is very meaningful for Turkish basketball, very valuable and in my opinion, which is not found anywhere else in the world. . Very valuable facilities have been brought to the country, but we are very happy that this will be the first time such a comprehensive facility will be built for basketball. In this process, we worked with our minister a lot and informed them in every sense. Today he did not leave us alone. Hopefully, next year, there will be a very important facility called the Turkish Basketball Development Center. For this reason, we would like to thank our minister very much, they did not come and leave us alone today,” he said.

Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Minister of Youth and Sports, started his speech by stating that a very visionary work has been carried out for Turkey and Istanbul and said, “We are in one of the most unique places in Istanbul on a beautiful Istanbul day. We are on the eve of a very visionary work for both Istanbul and Turkey. Turkey is increasing its claims in every field day by day. This land is 68 acres and I believe it will be one of the most prestigious basketball facilities not only in our country but also in the world. This will be the basketball base of the region and Europe. I would like to thank our President for his great support. I would like to thank our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, TOKİ administration and team, who were with us in this work.”

Adding that they are on the verge of an important transformation in basketball, Minister Kasapoğlu said, “I hope we will share with you serious projects in the field of basketball, not only in the facility, but in the field of basketball, at an accessible point, in the coming period. We will bring this facility you see, the most prestigious basketball base in the world, to our country. There will not be only a gym here. Of course, there will be a hall that will witness all-round, highly competitive, legendary matches. In addition, we will have a 24/7 living base with its museum, living space, infrastructure facility and camping area. You know, we started our 10 thousand crucible project. With this project, I believe by blending them all together, we will remove new giants and new stars from our country. We trust the children of this land. We will continue to do so in the future, just as we have done so far to ensure that the facilities are accessible to women, men, the elderly, young and all citizens. We will try to make all branches preferred and interested by our people more accessible, not just a few branches. We will not hesitate to provide both trainer support and infrastructure support regarding this matter,” he said.
Emphasizing that investments in Turkey will not slow down, Minister Kasapoğlu said, “While Turkey is realizing its claim to reach the top in sports and youth investments, as in every field, it will continue to walk on this path. There are contractor companies here. I hope we will share the detailed details of this project with you together with our Minister of Environment in the upcoming period.
