Robert Saleh and Nick Sirianni, head coaches of the Jets and Eagles respectively, have tested positive for Covid; both can return to their teams’ week 16 games on Sunday; Kevin Stefanski Returns For Browns Christmas To Visit The Packers

Robert Saleh, head coach of the New York Jets, and Nick Sirianni, his Philadelphia Eagles colleague, have tested positive for Covid-19.

If the head coaches no longer show Covid symptoms and test negative, they can return to coach their teams for Sunday’s 16th week games.

Sirianni – virtually speaking from the hotel where he is isolated – said, “I feel good. I’m a little better now, and that’s good.

“The rest of the week I will be attending all the meetings, apparently virtually. I will conduct them. Usual things”.

Ron Middleton, coach of the Jets, trained on Wednesday after being notified less than an hour after Saleh tested positive.

Middleton said, “I’m not reinventing the wheel here. I’m trying to steer the ship, keep it in the right direction. “

If Saleh and Sirianni fail to play on Sunday, Middleton will lead the Jets and the Eagles will be coached by Kevin Patullo, Play Coordinator.

The 3-10 Jets host the 2-11 Jacksonville Jaguars, while the 7-7 Eagles will look to continue their playoff game against NFC East rivals the New York Giants, who are 4-10.

Currently, there are 18 active and training players on the Covid roster, as well as an injured reserve.
