Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals are in a state of desperation entertaining the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football live on Sky Sports NFL.

With only one team in the conference having fewer wins – the Chicago Bears (3-9) – one more setback would almost eliminate Arizona from contention and put fourth-year head coach Cliff Kingsbury in the hot seat.

However, Cardinals standout quarterback Budda Baker is unwilling to wave the white flag before the need arises.

“At the end of the day, when it’s time to work, we work,” Baker, who has the team’s top 90 tackles, told reporters ahead of the clash.

“We have five more opportunities. We must use the best of them because [the NFL] means “for a short time”. We have to show good football.”

The Cardinals enter the game against New England after the last week. However, they’ve lost two games in a row and six of their last eight, and they’ll need their all-star quarterback Murray to warm up if they’re looking to make a late playoff push.

The fourth-year pro has gained under 200 yards in each of his last two games — he missed two November games with a hamstring injury — and has a career-worst 6.1 yards per try this season.

He also came under fire for his poor performance following a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension during the off-season.

“You understand what position you are in, what is connected with it, what you have to face,” Murray said.
