New York Giants general manager Joe Shawn cheered current starting quarterback Daniel Jones at his opening press conference, saying, “The guy’s got the physical ability. He has strong arms, he is athletic, he can run. I am very happy to work with Daniel. ”

New York Giants co-owner John Mara said the team would not sell Houston Texans quarterback Deshawn Watson, while new general manager Joe Shawn spoke about current player Daniel Jones’s 2022 outlook.

“We don’t trade Deshawn Watson,” Mara said. “There are so many reasons why we wouldn’t do it.

“We couldn’t afford it, but more importantly with the allegations that are out there now, it just doesn’t fit for us.”

Mara also offered his support to current QB Giants Jones, adding, “We did our best to screw this kid up. We definitely didn’t give up on Daniel Jones.”

The new team’s general manager, Sean, addressed the media for the first time since his appointment, and also strongly supported Jones ahead of the start of the 2022 season.

“I looked at Daniel,” Sean said. “As soon as the new staff arrives here, we will get together – offensive coordinator, head coach, all the staff – and together we will dive into the film, see what Daniel does best, and try to let him shine.

“I haven’t been here in the past, so I don’t know exactly what he was told to do, but I do know one thing: I know he’s a great kid.

“There is no one in this building who would say a bad word about his work ethic, passion, desire to win, and I think you should have those qualities as a quarterback.

“The guy has physical abilities. He has strong arms, he is athletic, he can run. I am very happy to work with Daniel.”
