Sky sportsNFL fantasy football guru Hannah Wilkes helps you navigate the 2021 season in her weekly column, and this week has a Halloween special as she runs through some tricks or matchmaking options.

On that special Sunday when games kick off here at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm (and I invariably miss the start of the game, but never leave the late game at half-time – swings and roundabouts), we can all snuggle up on the couch with a bunch of snacks and, at least this year, you’ll have a half-open window to dump sweets to local tricks or craftsmen.

Add to that the upcoming trade deadline (for real football, check your league settings for Fantasy), the Green Bay Packers side leading to the undefeated Arizona Cardinals with their WR1 and WR2 on the COVID-19 roster, and the Cincinnati Bengals sitting proudly. at the top of the AFC, and once again a week of dramatic events awaits on and off the pitch.

Since today is Halloween and I don’t like the topic, I thought I’d look at some tricks (bad) and treats (good) as we head into the eighth week of the 2021 NFL season.

Can we take a moment to enjoy and appreciate the vast array of tricks we’ve seen in week seven?

Derrick Henry and Kendrick Bourne throw touchdowns; Detroit Lions special teams literally devastate the game at the Los Angeles Rams with a side kick, two fake antlers, and then a sudden 10 point advantage; New York giants participate in the “Philly Special” a week after Bills renamed it Buffalo Special; this level of creative playful appeal is dull to look at, and leaves us spoiled for choice when it comes to picking the plays of the week. One more note about Kendrick Bourne: I constantly look at it as a fantasy option in my deeper leagues. At the time of this writing, I have not claimed to have a wide receiver, but it looks more and more good pickup as the New England Patriots find some flow.

I think it’s safe to say that the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers tricked us all by starting the season 3-0.

To be honest, I am angry with a lot of them. Both teams now sit 3-4 with a terrifying 25-3 Panther defeat to the Giants, proving conclusively that they simply don’t have an offensive without Christian McCaffery. Remember that hot moment when we all thought Sam Darnold was reborn? Good times.
