Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady announced he would return to Tampa Bay next season, just six weeks after revealing he was retiring from the NFL; Brady: My place is still on the pitch, not in the stands
Seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady has sensationally retracted his decision to retire from the NFL and confirmed his intention to return in 2022.
The veteran, who leads all-time lists in passing yards and touchdowns, spent most of his career with the New England Patriots before moving to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the previous two seasons.
Brady said “never say never” about playing again within a week of his initial retirement announcement, and now the 44-year-old is confirming his intention to return to the Buccaneers for the 2022 campaign.
In a statement posted to Twitter, Brady said: “The last two months I have realized that my place is still on the field, not in the stands.
“That time will come. But not now. I love my teammates and I love my supportive family. They are doing their best. I’m back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said in February that it would be a “shock” if Brady made a U-turn and returned to the game.
