Lto LaLiga Assembly It will be held this Friday, December 10. On the table, the final ratification of the Impulso project together with the CVC fund that last summer approved the delegated commission. Before the Assembly a meeting was scheduled on Thursday in the Higher Sports Council (CSD) between Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic, on the one hand, and The league, on the other hand, that it has been called off by positioning the CSD as a mere intermediary without legal capacity to intervene due to lack of competence in the conflict generated by the agreement with the CVC fund.

The Federation has positioned itself on the side of the three clubs, which last week presented the so-called ‘Sustainable Project‘, which is a financing offer by JP Morgan, Bank of Amaeri and HSBC at 2.5-3.3 25-year interest, which would allow clubs to save 12.2 billion euros depending on the teams that present it.

‘LaLiga Impulso’ came hand in hand according to the CVC fund to inject 2,700 million euros in exchange for the value of 9 percent of the audiovisual rights for the next 50 years.

After the refusal to sign it by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic, the body’s delegate commission approved the agreement last day one, reformulated to accommodate the participation of 39 of the 42 clubs. All this that must be ratified by the Assembly on Friday.

The three clubs that oppose the agreement plan to go through with it. Once CSD mediation has not been effective, your next step will be to go to court.

Statement from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic

Today the president of the Superior Sports Council (CSD) has summoned us to a meeting with the CSD itself, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the president of La Liga, to also be held on the same day of today.

We were confident that at said meeting the CSD would be able to adopt decisions that would prevent the eventual approval of a project that we consider flagrantly illegal, such as the La Liga Impulso Project, which, if approved, will entail the judicialization of Spanish football.

However, after calling the meeting, the CSD has informed us that it lacks powers to make decisions about the La Liga Impulso Project and its legality, expressly inviting us to go to the ordinary courts.

In this context, Athletic Club, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, and after consulting this position with the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, who shares the position of the aforementioned clubs:

a) We understand that the meeting proposed by the CSD today must be postponed, and held as long as the CSD (i) has had the opportunity to properly assess the flagrant irregularities of the La Liga Impulso Project and (ii) confirm that has the power to act in the exercise of its supervisory functions;

b) We regret that La Liga continues to promote the approval of a project that we consider flagrantly illegal and that seriously harms the interests of all Spanish football, built through the expropriation of the audiovisual rights that belong to each and every one of the clubs that may participate. in La Liga for the next 50 years, not La Liga, and at a time as a result of the pandemic, of helplessness, uncertainty and weakness of many of the current associate members. If the agreement is approved, we will exercise the appropriate legal actions, of whatever nature; Y

c) We reiterate our willingness to participate in as many meetings as necessary, as long as they aim to assess solutions that respect our legal system in all its extremes, in order to help reach the consensus that Spanish football so badly needs in a climate of open dialogue .
