The first match in 3×3 basketball, which will take place as an Olympic sport for the first time in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, will be played between the host Japan and Russia. The game, which will be played on July 24 in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, will go down in history as the first 3×3 basketball game in Olympic history.

A total of 16 teams will compete in Tokyo 2020, 8 for women and 8 for men. Matches will be played from 24-28 July. In women; Russia, China, Mongolia, Romania, America, France, Japan and Italy will take place. Serbia, Russia, China, Japan, Poland, Netherlands, Latvia and Belgium will compete.

There will be no draw for 3×3 basketball at the Olympic Games, as all 8 teams will play each other in a single group for the first three and a half days and will be matched according to the single elimination system for the teams that finished their group between 3rd and 6th place on the 4th day.

While the teams that finished their groups in the top 6 places will advance to the qualifying round, the teams in the 1st and 2nd place will go directly to the semi-finals and the teams in the 7th and 8th places will be eliminated.

The semi-finals and all medal matches will be played on 28 July.
