Sports and entertainment stars, along with more than 50,000 spectators, will attend the MCG on Wednesday to pay tribute to legendary cricketer Shane Warne at his state memorial.
Warne died at the age of 52 on March 4 after a suspected heart attack while on Koh Samui, Thailand, with autopsy results revealing death was due to natural causes.
Musicians Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Chris Martin are submitting video contributions for the state funeral, while former England captain Nasser Hussain traveled to Melbourne to join West Indies legend Brian Lara and al former Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram to pay his respects in person. .
“Just a month or so ago, we were chatting with him on The Cricket Show and he was his regular larger than life,” Hussain said. “He was so happy, so professional and he was chatting with me and Rob Key and we were laughing. It’s amazing how life really grabs you.”
