On the fifth day of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the USA beat Iran by 54 points 120-66 in the second match of Group A in men’s basketball.
In the match played at the Saitama Super Arena, the USA achieved its first victory with a comfortable game. Losing to France in the first match, losing its first Olympic defeat in 17 years, the USA finished the first quarter 28-12 and the half over 60-30 against Iran.
Continuing to widen the gap in the third quarter, the USA entered the final period with an 82-43 lead and won the game 120-66 by 54 points.
The top scorer of the match was Damien Lillard, who scored 21 points in the USA. Hamed Haddadi and Mohammed Jamshidi each scored 14 points in Iran, who lost their second match in the group with this defeat.
In the group, the USA will play its last match against the Czech Republic on Saturday, July 31, while Iran will play against France.
