The scheduling change meant New Orleans would no longer be able to host the 2024 Super Bowl and would instead host the 2025 game as Las Vegas was announced as the venue for an NFL championship game for the first time.

Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis has confirmed that Sin City will host the Super Bowl for the first time in February 2024.

New Orleans was supposed to host the game, but the league’s move to an 18-week regular season meant the sport’s show date was inconsistent with Louisiana’s Mardi Gras celebrations.

The 2025 Super Bowl will now host New Orleans.

The state-of-the-art 65,000-seat Vegas arena will also host the 2022 Pro Bowl and NFL Drafts.

Davis said in a statement, “The Raiders are thrilled that the NFL has chosen Las Vegas to host Super Bowl (58) LVIII in February 2024.

“Hosting the 2022 Pro Bowl, the 2022 NFL Draft, and now the 2024 Super Bowl are just a few of the additional benefits we have gained from the public-private partnership we formed with the state of Nevada to bring the Raiders to Las Vegas and build Allegiant stadium. It’s only begining.

“But for now – Las Vegas – the Super Bowl is approaching the world capital of sports and entertainment!”
