The second season of the African Basketball League, which will take place with the participation of the best 12 club teams from 12 African countries, will start on 5 March 2022.
The African Basketball League (BAL) has announced that the league’s second season will begin on Saturday, March 5, 2022 in Dakar, Senegal, and will continue in Cairo, Egypt and Kigali, Rwanda. BAL will once again be held with the participation of the best 12 club teams from 12 African countries, and in 2022, 38 matches will be played in three cities in three months.
In the second BAL season, 15 games in Dakar Arena in Dakar between 5-15 March, 15 games in Hassan Mostafa Indoor Sports Complex in Cairo between 9-19 April and 21-28 May in Kigali Arena in Kigali eight-game play-offs and finals will be played.
The second season announcement of the BAL League was made by BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall and FIBA African Youth Council President Ambrose Tashobya at the Hassan Mostafa Indoor Sports Complex with the participation of BAL Champion Zamalek (Egypt).
In the second BAL season, the 12 teams will be split into two conferences of six teams each. The 15-game group stage will be played, with teams from each conference facing the other five teams in their conference once. The top eight teams in the group stage will qualify for the BAL play-offs, which will be played in a single elimination form in all three rounds.
On May 30, Zamalek won its first BAL League by defeating US Monastir (Tunisia) 76-63 in the match held at Kigali Arena and broadcast in 15 languages to fans in 215 countries and regions.
