Trey McBride epitomizes the rush of a breakout season, bringing to life the NFL dream he once abstained from to establish himself as the No. 1 tight player heading into the 2022 draft.
McBride led every tight end in the country with 90 catches for 1,121 yards, as well as a 34 percent touchdown target in last season’s 12 games, comfortably outperforming his previous three campaigns put together to complement and polish the resumes of two assets.
Perhaps more of an undiscovered gem in a small market than a late-blooming flower.
“You always dream of being an NFL player, that’s what you dream of all your life, but the odds are against you,” McBride told Sky Sports.
“I was in college, I wanted to play, I just wanted to get on the field, and as I continued to develop and get better, I knew that I had a chance at it.

A package of smooth routes on all three levels, sticky hands, steamroller power in yards after tackle, impact-absorbing balance, nasty blocking ideology, willingness to freelance, and six 100-yard walks won him the John McKee Award. the best tight end in the country.
Another testament to his rise was the stability at the top of the tight class, considered one of the deepest of all pre-draft positions.
“Truly incredible. This is what you dream about all your life, to be the best, you want to be the best, that’s why you play this game,” he said.
