England bowler Tymal Mills has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup with a right thigh strain.

Mills, England’s top wicket catcher in the tournament with seven scalps, underwent a scan on Tuesday after sustaining the bowling injury in the T20 World Cup victory in Super 12 against Sri Lanka on Monday, in Sharjah.

Reece Topley, a Surrey sailor, has been added to the England squad, following his role as a roving reserve.

England have lined up an unchanged team in their first four matches of the tournament, all of which have been won.

Their last match of the Super 12 phase is on Saturday against South Africa, live Sky sports, with Eoin Morgan’s team almost secured a spot in the semi-final.

The 29-year-old Mills made his first appearance in England last month against the West Indies in both teams’ first game of the tournament after more than four injury-plagued years away from the international arena.

Bowling buddies Mark Wood and Tom Curran have been unavailable for selection in all four games so far due to ankle and knee problems, respectively.
