The Serbian coach decided to leave after his 2-year contract in Bologna expired. The 53-year-old head coach, who worked for the Serbian National Team between 2013 and 2019, won silver medals at the 2014 World Cup, 2016 Rio Olympics and 2017 EuroBasket.
WHO IS SASHA DJORDJEVIC?
Aleksandar Djordjevic was born in Belgrade in 1967. Djordjevic, who played for Partizan, Olimpia Milano, Bologna, Portland, Barceona and Real Madrid in his professional career, also coached the Serbian national team. The former basketball player continued his career from 1983 to 2005.
Dordevic, who received the Golden Badge award as Yugoslavia’s Best Athlete in 1995, was declared Athlete of the Year by the Yugoslav Olympic Committee.
