Marizanne Kapp’s outstanding all-around performance helped South Africa secure a tense three-wicket victory over England and condemn the reigning champions to their third consecutive loss at the Women’s Cricket World Cup.

Tammy Beaumont was England’s leading scorer with 62 and Amy Jones contributed 53 as they went 235-9 in their 50 overs after losing the toss and being invited to bat first in Monday’s match at the Bay Oval, with Marizanne Kapp taking 5-45 .

Laura Wolvaardt’s 77 then set the stage for the Proteas in their reply, followed by the all-rounder Kapp who contributed a crucial 32 off the bat before crossing the line with three balls to spare to maintain their undefeated start to the tournament.
