France beat Italy 84-75 to advance to semi-finals

On the 11th day of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, France defeated Italy 84-75 and became the semi-finalists in men’s basketball.

The first period of the match played at the Saitama Super Arena was passed with Italy’s 25-20 lead, while France went ahead 43-42 in the locker room.

Finishing the third quarter ahead 64-54, France won the match 84-75 and became the opponent of Slovenia in the semi-finals.

Playing the final from 2000 Sydney, France succeeded in reaching the semi-finals after 21 years in the Olympics.

France’s NBA stars played a leading role in the victory. Rudy Gobert had 22 points, 9 rebounds, Evan Fournier had 21 points and 4 assists. Fenerbahce Beko’s player Nando de Colo finished with 4 points and 7 assists.

In Italy, Simone Fontecchio’s 23 points and Danilo Galinari’s 21 points and 10 rebounds were not enough to win. Fenerbahçe Beko’s new transfer, Achille Polonara, contributed to his country Italy with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
